OPENING AND BLESSING OF THE NEW CHANCERY BUILDING OF THE CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF PORT MORESBY

This momentous event, on the 5th of December 2015, is the fulfillment of a long time dream in the Catholic Archdiocese of Port Moresby to have a CHANCERY BUILDING.

In his first year as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Port Moresby, Most Reverend John Ribat met with his College of Consultors to discuss the need of the Chancery to bring all the ministries and services under one roof and be the Headquarter of the Archdiocese. The Archbishop and the Chancellor, Fr. Rodrigo Campilan, together with the Property Manager, Ariel Adraincem, were tasked to seek funds to start the project.

The main contributors are foreign funding agencies (Missio Aachen, Missio Munich, Archdiocese of Cologne and Church In Need in Germany, Sir Henry Chow and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hidayat Hanafi and family) and other individual persons and parishioners of all the parishes in the Archdiocese of Port Moresby who share the Archdiocese’s Vision of “Journeying Together in Faith” with the people of Papua New Guinea.

Fr. Rodrigo Campilan spearheaded this project and closely monitored its completion, which incurred a total cost of K5 Million.

Archbishop John Ribat will officiate the opening and blessing witnessed by the parish priests and their parish representatives, religious and lay missionaries and distinguished guests. The festivities will start at 9:30 a.m. with the Mekeo dancers and the Youth dancers from Hanuabada welcoming the invitees and the rest of the program will follow.

For this event, Archbishop John has this message: “With the completion of this Archdiocesan Chancery, we are moving towards uniting the pastoral work ministries and services. We will all be under one roof to work together with better coordination.”
