On June 14, 2021, the community of Iawakaka Village started their community service in order to clean the possible garden area for the training. On the following day, the Organic Gardening Training Course started with only 2 women participants. They were given orientation by Sr. Genelyn Caminian,SSJ, the sister-in-charge of the training. After the orientation, they were brought to the garden to prepare their own plots. Preparing the garden ground is not easy. Then another interested neighbour volunteered to help in the ground preparation and then decided to join the training (1 man). The Junior Legionaries of the sub-parish who regularly come on Saturdays to help Sr. Genelyn in the garden had expressed their desire to have their own garden. FIRST BASIC SEWING COURSE GRADUATION ST. JOSEPH TRAINING CENTRE (SJTC) Iawakaka, Vuvu, Rabaul, East New Britain Province (New SIERVAS DE SAN JOSE Foundation in Papua New Guinea)

On July 12, 2021, we, the SSJ Sisters, started the First Basic Sewing Course at St. Joseph’s Training Centre which lasted for two months with 19 Participants (18 ladies and 1 gentleman). With the funds coming from Taller de Solidarid, one of our major sources of funding, we were able to buy sewing machines, accessories and materials needed for the training course. During the training, the trainees were very faithful in coming every day. What had been facilitative in the training was the availability of all the training materials (cloth needed and all the training accessories) so that the trainees will just come without worrying where to get money to buy their training materials. When we do pattern making, they have the draft paper available and when cutting their materials, they have the cloth available. Because of this, the sewing course students were able to finish all their projects before graduation. Each training day started with Prayer Service and Gospel Reflection. Duri

Kitchen of Love (Bếp yêu thương) in Time of Covid-19 Pandemic

In response to the call of the Catholic Bishops of Vietnam to serve the poor and the needy who are affected by the Covid-19 in the hospitals and in some districts and places of the country at this time of pandemic, many clergy from the different parishes, seminaries and religious congregations responded to the invitation. They trained and prepared themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually for the task. Through their words and simple actions they uplift the peoples’ spirit during this time of pandemic. Many Parish priests from the different parishes of Saigon, Vietnam tapped their parishioners to help prepare and distribute foods for the needy. Being confronted by that challenge Ms. Thu a leader in our parish organized this “Kitchen of Love” program where we, Siervas de San Jose who are assigned here in Vietnam, join in cooking foods for the homeless, covid-19 infected, doctors and our neighbors who have nothing to eat due to lockdown in the whole city. We, also, act as link pe

“My grace is sufficient for you…” (2Cr 12,9) Hà Thị Thiet Committing Herself to God for the Rest of her Life

First of all, I would like to thank God for the gift of my life and vocation. He formed me in my mother’s womb and called me to be a Sierva de San Jose in order to follow Jesus the worker in Nazareth, harmonizing prayer and work. His unconditional love is very much palpable in my entire life despite my weaknesses and shortcomings. He unceasingly expresses His love through my sisters and formators in the Congregation who show their love and support as they welcome and accept me as I am. Their dedication in living the charism and the mission of the Congregation makes me feel closer to God and helps me to embrace and to love Him more intimately. This helped me, too, to be convinced to pursue my greatest desire to commit myself totally to God through my Perpetual Profession of Vows. My perpetual profession of vows though publicly celebrated was done in a very unique way due to Covid lockdown here in Saigon, Vietnam. It was through zoom online platform which was held on the 8th of Augus
