HOLY FAMILY PROVINCE CELEBRATES THE 120th DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF FR. BUTINYA

Last December 18, 2018, the 120th Death Anniversary of Fr. Butinya was celebrated by the Siervas de San Jose of the Holy Family Province in their respective places. They remembered with fondness, joy and gratitude Fr. Butinya, their Father and Founder who left them a legacy of having a heart for the poor workers, especially for the poor women workers and young women at risk and of being always at their service. As they gathered together to honor him, his memory brought them back to their root, to their home called Nazareth where their model and example, Jesus, Mary and Joseph immersed themselves in the life of the poor and earned their bread by the sweat of their brow…

LUZON CLUSTER

In Luzon Cluster, our celebration of Butinya’s Day was a combination of many events: Butinya’s 120th  Death Anniversary, 53rd Anniversary of the Foundation of Holy Family School, 3rd Annual Re-union of the residents (former and current) of Tahanang Paghubog Mother Bonifacia, Inc. (TPMBI), 4th gathering of the LJ-SSJ with KBB (Kids for Bonifacia and Butinya) and YBB (Youth for Bonifacia and Butinya), and last but not the least, the Renewal of Vows of Kim Thi, SSJ.

It was a grateful experience of God’s unconditional love to all of us. Everything went well and smoothly.

“As a Lay Josephine and former resident of TPMBI, I consider Fr. Butinya as a very close member of my family because he has been and will always be my loving father and protector. His being a truthful man and untiring worker in the vineyard of the Lord inspires me.”  (Joneyri, LJ)

C-T SILAY

C-T Silay had a simple lunch together with some Lay Josephines. Lourdes Tacpalan, ssj and Judy Vergara, ssj were the only sisters left in the house because the other members of the community attended the renewal of Rochelle in Iloilo.

C-T ILOILO

It was a double celebration by C-T Iloilo and HFH residents: 120th Death Anniversary of Fr. Butinya and Sr. Rochelle Repaso’s 6th renewal of vows.  The Mass Presider was Fr. Julius Jacobres, rector of st. Vincent Ferrer Seminary. The responsorial psalm sung by Rochelle  during the Mass very well expressed her  sentiments of trust, love and gratitude.

Some of the SSJs and LJs of Silay were present, too, to support the community and grace the occasion. After “Misa” was “Mesa”.

C-T CEBU

C-T Cebu celebrated Butinya’s day with the Talleres workers. They started first with their Christmas Party at 12:30 pm where they had as their Opening Prayer the dramatization of the mysteries of the Annunciation and Nativity combined with Christmas carols sung by one of the TDNC workers.

In the opening remarks of Sr. Ping, she asked everyone to greet everyone “Merry Christmas” and to really mean it from the heart. They were moved to tears of joy as they hugged and embraced each other sharing the joy, love and forgiveness they have for each one as they did during their last recollection.

After some games and presentations, they prepared for the mass. They had it at 3:00 pm with Fr. Mhar Balili as the mass presider.

Sr. Bich renewed her vows after the homily and delivered her words of thanks before the end of the celebration.

“Today, for the sixth time, I renewed my vows ‘to God the Father, in Jesus, through the Holy…’ as our profession formula says beautifully.

Accompanied by my community (sisters), co-workers, in the presence of the Christian community, I live this beautiful and desired moment of renewal of vows. I thank God for his fidelity, for his so much love and care that continues to sustain me; for giving me so much life through our charism and congregation. I also thank God for the company of my sisters, co-workers, my family and all the people who in my life have been part of my vocation and consecration. TO ALL IS MY GRATITUDE AND LOVE…

C-T CEBU (JOY, PING, BICH & EDITH WITH FR. MHAR

I continue to say to God that I am sure of God’s fidelity and ‘ in the service of God’s reign… I hope to persevere in the covenant of love’ that I live with God every day.”

They had a bountiful Christmas meal after the mass. Most of the food they had like lechon, chicken, fruit salad, drinks, ice cream and cake were generously given by their benefactors.

They continued the Christmas Party Program with some more games and presentations. The final one was the exchange gifts and the distribution of the TDN-C’s gifts to all the co-workers.

What a very meaningful and joyful celebration of Fr. Butinya's Day! Thanks for the active involvement in the preparations of all the TDNC Committees.

C-T VIETNAM

The sisters and students had a Concelebrated Mass by the Rogationist missionaries in Vietnam. The Rogationist brothers were present, too. They are their neighbors there in Tan Binh. They help them in their apostolate and likewise, they are their sponsors, too.
