THEME: St.
Bonifacia, a woman Chosen by God, a Prophetess from within the World of Work
This year’s celebration of the Feast day of St. Bonifacia especially during the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Nonong Pili at 10:00 am in Provincial House Chapel, we relish and thank God for the gifts received, namely:
o the person of Bonifacia to the Congregation, to the
Church and to the poor working world
o the privileged call to be audacious signs and prophets
that breaks inertia, that challenges, liberates and empowers especially women
workers and young women at risk
o the renewal of the vows of Genelyn Caminian, SSJ and the
acceptance to the Noviceship stage of Cecilia and Hue

All these are God’s concrete manifestation of love and guidance to us, God’s mercy and compassion for all.

A special mass to celebrate
the feast of St. Bonifacia in the Church was held at San Diego Parish last June
6, 2017 at 6:00 am and was attended by STA teachers, LJs, SSJ sisters and some
parishioners. The event was previously announced in the preceding anticipated and 7 regular Sunday
masses ( June 3 and 4) as a way of promoting St. Bonifacia and inviting the
people to participate in the Mass.
The assistant parish priest,
Fr. Mark was the Mass presider and the newly ordained deacon, Reverend Chad was
the homilist. To the delight of everyone, Rev. Chad captured the life and
spirituality of Bonifacia in his prepared homily.
The following is an excerpts
from his homily:
“… Bonifacia’s experience of
God had grown and matured at the rhythm of her work, which occupied her whole
life… this brought change and difference to the lives of many people especially
to the poor women workers and young women at risk… Pope Benedict XVI described
her as a woman “who knew how to unite Christ and daily work. Working as she did
from a young age, was not just a way to not be a burden to anyone, but also
implied the freedom to achieve her own vocation and at the same time gave her
the possibility of drawing in and forming other women who could meet God and
hear his loving call…” In other words, she is a woman whom we can describe as a
“luminous witness of the Gospel.” She
lived the Gospel through her works, making her work as a way to praise and
contemplate the goodness of God and follow Jesus…”
